National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness & Prevention Month

July is National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness & Prevention Month. This cause is particularly close to me and the team at HealthLinx, as we have been partnered with Free To Smile Foundation for several years. Helping impoverished children with cleft lips and palates has been a passion of mine for many years.  These children endure speech defects, nutritional challenges, and isolation and social stigma.  That’s why we’ve partnered with Free To Smile.

National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness & Prevention Month raises awareness of conditions ranging from cleft lip and palate to a variety of craniofacial conditions and diseases. From birth defects to conditions acquired in adulthood, thousands of people are affected in the United States alone each year.

The National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness & Prevention Month website is a great resource for learning more about this cause – http://www.nccapm.org/index.html.

You can visit their site to discover participating organizations throughout the country for information, support, networking and fundraising activities.

Working With Free To Smile

Our experience working with Free To Smile expands beyond the United States, with multiple mission trips each year to deliver aid and relief to children in impoverished countries and communities. We’re proud to participate in numerous ways with their programs, and it has been a thrill to see members of our company donate time and money to help their cause.

HealthLinx has also teamed up with Free To Smile to provide a nurse with a FREE mission trip scholarship. Please apply or share with pediatric nurses you know who may be interested.
