Our First Annual, HealthLinx® Leadership Scholarship Recipient for an Aspiring Nurse Leader is

Laurie A. McKee

Laurie was selected out of 355 applicants based on the quality of her essay, past and current leadership performance, potential for continued success, and commitment to the health care field. Laurie currently works as the Department Director of the Critical Care Unit, and the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration Program at Independence University California College for Health Sciences.

It was truly inspiring to see how many applicants were in the process of pursing an advanced degree in nursing leadership!

Hospitals are not only facing a nursing shortage, but also a critical leadership shortage, and their future success is dependent upon the strength and effectiveness of these specialized leaders to see them through.
